Our Engagement Story
Well it is a goal of mine in 2020 that I am going to be more consistent with posting on my website and staying up to date with you all! 2019 was an amazing year but definitely had it’s up’s and down’s from loosing my dog of 15 years (poor Bruiser baby we hope & pray you come home someday), to getting engaged and starting to plan the most magical day of my life, to staying consistent at work & finding a career I love (at least I was consistent in one part of my life last year) it was a whirlwind.
I wanted to kick off the new year on a lighter note and share with you all the story of Spencer and I’s engagement, which will also tie into my St. John’s travel guide I am working on. We had gone on this vacation to St. John’s for a simple get away and I had no idea that I would be coming back a fiancé! This was a moment that I honestly blacked out during and I am so grateful for the family who actually recorded everything.
It was our third day on the island and we had decided to go to Salt Pond Bay for some of the best snorkeling on the island. We spent the morning drinking St. Johns Brewers mango beer and snorkeling seeing octopus, sea turtles, and plenty of tropical fish. I had been reading my novel “It’s Always The Husband” by Michele Campbell and was just sitting in the water when Spencer came up and asked “Let’s take a picture together”. So of course down for any photo occasion ever I popped up and went over to set my book down while he gave his cell phone to the family sitting next to us. Next thing I know we are posing for what I think is an adorable photo and he gets down on one knee and goes into his whole speech how I make him the happiest man alive. To be honest that was the point I blacked out and just started crying happy tears saying yes, yes, yes and of course holding out my hand.
The whole beach was yelling congratulations and those from a far came up to be like did you just get engaged, then giving us their well wishes. It was a magical moment that I will never forget and one that we lucky have on video! Spencer told me that night at dinner that he had this engagement ring since the November before and had been waiting for the perfect moment, and I have to say he made sure it was just so.
