Local Girl Boss
As some of you may or may not know I am from State College, PA home of Penn State University. I moved to the Philly area in June of 2014 to begin my internship at Nordstrom and have stayed down here ever since! Fast forward 5 years I have done a major career change, re-branded/re-started my blog, found the love of my life, and bought a house. It has been a whirlwind to say the least but one thing has always remained consistent and that is my belief in myself & my overall positive outlook for life no matter what I am going through. I read Sophia Amoruso’s #GirlBoss the summer of 2014 and it has always stuck with me.
In the last year I have really made efforts to network with like minded Philly blogger babes. This involves attending more events now that I am able to because I am enjoying more stable work hours & weekends off. Although I have only been doing that for about 5 months it is incredible the network of girl bosses I have met & got to connect with. It is amazing the community you can build for yourself and in return the support you get and get to give!!
I also stay in touch with a lot of local girl bosses from my hometown of State College and the surrounding communities. I attended the first ever #BFTGirlgang meet up in Bellefonte at Lydia Shafer’s photography studio with my mom naturally because she is also a business woman in the State College area to help connect her with like minded ladies as I have been doing here in Philly! It was amazing to see the many different businesses came to collaborate and meet in this space and enjoy networking with one & other. My mom is not one who would attend something like this on her own so I was happy to be able to accompany her and see her step out of her comfort zone which is also what these events are all about.
This local girl gang in Bellefonte has gotten all sorts of attention since this first meet up and the private group that Lydia runs on Facebook continues to grow, it is so amazing to be a part of & see. I am part of a couple groups like that in the Philly area as well to keep me in the know on the local networking events. I wanted to get this out to share because I will hopefully be attending the second meet up at the end of April in Bellefonte! I have two events coming up in Philly as well so I hope to see some of you there!
I will forever follow the quote, if your dreams don’t scare you they aren't big enough & this has helped me consistently push myself out of my own comfort zone.
