Happy Friday! I don't know about anyone else but I really struggled to get things done this week. While I feel I was productive there is still a lot that did not get crossed off my to-do list this week, but that is OK. I am coming to terms more and more with taking time for me, focusing on what makes me happy, and realizing it's alright I don't have my next five years of my life exactly mapped out. We all need this reminder sometimes that everyone goes through life at their own pace and you just need to be proud of what YOU have accomplished so far.
Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of stuffing my face with all the worlds best fair foods at the Great Centre County Grange Fair. As well as spending three days off with my family back home in State College. This county fair is unlike any other in the country as it is the only encampment fair left in the country, meaning people actually move in and live at the fair the whole week. My family has been attending for decades literally. The happiness I get from seeing my niece and nephews enjoying the same games and rides I did as a child just has no comparison to any other family tradition we have. My grandma has been attending the fair since she was a kid in the 1940's, my mom since the 1960's, and me my whole life minus a couple years I didn't make it back due to work. We have two family concession stands in the fair DeFluri's Pizza and Dave & Curt's Pizzeria and Grill. It was my first ever job serving slices across the counter and helped instill some working values even as a kid. There is nothing like it truly and if you are ever in the central PA area during mid August I definitely recommend checking it out.
What are some of your family traditions?
