Home Sweet Home
Well after a month/5 weeks of chaos it is worth finally feeling like I am walking into my house everyday when I come home. We finally were able to decorate last week and it is feeling so much more cozy up in here! My step dad and brother drove down to help and it was so fun to have them around my house. I am actually excited to show off my house now instead of hiding boxes in the corner just to snap a photo. Needless to say the house warming party will be coming up soon and I cannot wait to fill this home with the warmth of our friends and family.
I am so pleased to see how far we have come since purchasing this home! It was a lot of long nights and early mornings of trying to get things done but it has been so rewarding for it to come together. I was pleasantly surprised this weekend that Spencer completed my dreams for the kitchen because I told him I didn’t want to paint the cabinets till after the holidays. I came home Saturday from work to see that he finished it for me including adding the new knobs I bought from Anthropologie. Simply painting and ripping up the carpets has made a world of difference in this house since we purchased it in September. It will be a never ending project but one I am more than happy to take on with my amazing boyfriend.
Next project for me is getting photos and printing them out into frames for our family photo wall. I used to love thinking of little ideas to hang things at my moms. For instance we used to make a “thankful tree” for the month of November. Where we would cut out leaves and write something each day we are thankful for and tape it on the wall around a cut out of a tree loosing it’s leaves for fall. I was SHOCKED when I walked into Lowe’s the other day and they had an almost identical idea made out of felt. That could have been my get rich quick scheme!! What are some of your favorite family traditions coming up for the holidays???
Shop house items: (the ones that aren’t vintage and scored at a flea market or estate sale that is)
Top left corner here we are going to do a family wall. I will buy a mix of 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10 photos to display our loved ones. I can’t wait to share that project with you all when it is complete!!
